Elzhi “Lead Poison” Is One Of Detroit’s Best Albums

Detroit native and once time member of the group Slum Village, Elzhi returns with his heavily anticipated album Lead Poison. Not to disappoint, after a long wait of almost 5 years fans finally have something to play.

This is by far Elzhi’s most complete work from start to finish. From the tittle track “Medicine Man” reminiscent of Nas’s book of Rhymes all the way to the  album’s final track “Keep Dreaming”, the album doesn’t disappoint.

In a noisy world full of trap music and negative commentary, Elzhi offers a refreshing alternative with introspective word play and a wide array of production that’s peaceful, flowing and reminiscence of what hip hop used to be.

Unfortunately, I don’t write spoilers so I’m not going to give away  to much of this album, except to say its a masterpiece. The lyricism is top-notch with production to match, over the years Elzhi has continued to push the bar, the only thing were lacking is consistancy and an album with Royce Da 59 (one could only wish).

Hopefully, the critical acclimation Ezli has received from this album will keep him from disappearing again. I’m not sure of all the trials and tribulations this man has been thru, but judging from his album life hasn’t  been easy these last few years. As a fan I hope Elzhi continues to offer us a glimpse into his life through his music. In the meantime you can purchase Elhi’s album Lead Paint and previous releases at elzhi.com.
